PostWysłany: Pią 10:47, 14 Lip 2006    Temat postu: Our mod- discussion

In this topic, we will discuss about our mod "world". When and where action happens, how huge the map is, what factions contains.
My prepositions are:
1648- Chmielnicki's uprising
Factions on start:
-Korona (Crown)
-Wielkie Ksiestwo Litewskie (Grand Duchy of Lithuania)
-Powstancy kozaccy (Cossacks)
- Tatarzy (Tatars)
If work will go on, we could also add- Muscovy, Turkey, Moldavia.
But what with Sweden? Well, I think that our map should contain only south-east corner of Rzeczpospolita- border with "Dzikie Pola"(Wild Fields). This area was almost unhabitated steppe, penetrated only by bandits, small groups of cossacks, Tatars and some Polish soldiers. So, main towns would be placed on west side of the Dniepr river.
Feel free to comment. What do you think?

I think thats good idea Smile But in my opinion there should be one fraction Rzeczpospolita, not two (Crown and Lithuana). I'm agree also with the map area, but i think that it should be biiiiig Smile

Every fraction should have some unique troops: Rzeczpospolita - Very good cavlary, Cossacks - infantry, Turkey good archers as Beleg writes on the talesworld forum Smile

Well, 2 Rzeczpospolita factions means more units. And polish army of this time was very diverse. There were polish and western troops. Also, some units (like petyhorcy) were specified for Lthuania only. How many units in one tech tree we can contain? I mean it is only one path for certain kind of units (melee infantry, skirmish infantry etc.) or we can produce more? If that, we can do one, polish faction.

Well.... my 2 cents.....

I would like to see Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth as ONE huge faction, and few other, smaller, hostile factions, like Moscov, Ottoman Empire, Krim Khanate, Sweden, Tatars and Tartar etc, etc .....

And about historical period.... well, i would rather place this mod in undefinied year of 17th century...... More opponents, more fun Smile

Chmielnicki's Riot is interesting "PART" of 17th Polish history, but it is only small episod. That's why i would see mod based on whole Sienkiewicz's Trilogy, not only on "With fire and sword"

A troop type can have up to 2 upgrade paths.
But the whole upgrade tree can be as big as you want to, no specific limits there.

So, can we make more than one path for, for exmaple, "melee cavalry"? It would be possible to do 2-3 independent path with meele cavalry(of course each with 2 upgrades)? So, for exmple:

Hussar HM (Husarz Choragwi Nadwornej JKM)
^
"Comrade" Hussar (Towarzysz husarski)
^
"Pocztowy" Hussar (Pocztowy husarski)

And more paths of melee cavalry than that could also be made?

If I understand correctly, we coud have only 3 upgrades "vertically", but as many as we want "horizontally"?

Well, yes, but in that case the map should be really huge. That means only big towns could be implemented. And with map including whole Rzeczpospolita it would be little grotesque to ride and fight with such opponents (Sweden, Muskovy- they were huge armies, not only small bands) with only small company. You could decide on war, and fate of whole countries, only with your small party. The game would be too "general", if you understand, and much less fun, I think.
Because of that, I think that map should only contains south-east border of Rzeczpospolita- in the west some more populated areas, in center- Dniepr river with Sicz, on east- huge terain of Dzikie Pola, on south-east edge of the map some settlements of Krim Khanate, and on the south edge-maybe Turkey? That map, cantains only a part of Rzeczpospolita (but most wild and interesting part), could held atmosphere of Kresy (Confines)- really Wild East of XVII century Smile .
And Sweden could be a matter of debate... they didn't ventured in that region, even in the times of Potop, but we could discuss on this. And maybe ream a map little on the top, too include some settlement occupied by them? But as I stated, it's a matter of debate.

And time of the mod- well, I thnik it doesn't matter too much. But Chmielnicki riot would be positive because it could clear situation- Cossacks and Tatars were fighting with Polish (in the times of peace, they were nominally people of Polish Crown, and fought only with Tatars and Ottomans).
So, what do you think?

Technically speaking, there's no such thing as 'upgrade tree' - it's an abstract construct.
All there is to it - each troop type has exactly two slots which can be filled with upgrade options.

Providing this, you can create one long tree consiting of all the troop types,
or two separate trees can be joinned somewhere in the middle,
you are also able to create upgrade loops if you like so.

Today I thought about troops types, and I came to mind that we have only faction troops- Poles, Cossaks and Crimean Tartars. But in vanilla M&B there are also parties like River Pirates, Black Knights etc. So, if we want to make real Wild Fields world, we we must include "independent" parties. My prepositions are:
1)Rezuny - paesant mob, which fouht with everyone (sometimes even with Chmielnicki's Cossaks). Paesant troops including "czern" with primitive weapons- hooks, sticks etc. Weak, but numerous enemy.
2)Hajdamacy- cossack bandits dwelling in stepps. Better armed, with fire weapons, but still only bandits.
3)Czambuly tatarskie- Tartars that didn't undergo to noone, even Crimean Khanate (in fact, they constantly made small expeditions, which made Ukraine "burning border"). Generally light cavalry, mainly archers.
4)Kupy swawolne- unpayed soldiers, mercenaries and common bandits. Dangerous, some armed with fire weapons. Usually experienced soldiers. Such host were trouble for Rzeczpospolita.

What do you think?

I was wondering, mabe You guys could do something to keep infantry together (musketers, archers, pikemen etc.).Pikemen in the front and muskets behind them, like on the battlefield.Ofcourse player must have those type of units.
Another cool stuff would be to chose what formations our governors will create
(chorągiew pancerna,husarska,rita piechoty).
To make it easier I propose to base "WFandS"MOd on "A Shield on the Water"Mod.There are such a posiibilities and capturing castles and occupy them is avaiable too...

Zgadzam się ten mod jest jeden z lepszych - niestety AI prawie wcale nie atakuje castles ... Wiec generalnie szybko sie on nudzi - idealem byloby polaczenie moda RTW , Shield on theWAter i jeszcze jakiegos gdzie atakuje sie w koncu fortyfikacje ( 1066 )
wowczas gra miala by troche sensu
Natomiast nie widzialem tam zadnych formacji .....jest jakas nowsza wersja ? ja moja sciagnalem 2 miechy temu..
